Lures, Bobbers, and Sinkers

These three items are all pretty standard objects for your tackle box. It’s definitely a good idea to have a selection of each on hand.

Lures

Lures should include spinners, spoons, minnow imitations, and top-water lures. Each type of lure is designed to attract a different type of fish, so it’s a good idea to have some of each so you can experiment in the water. You never know which lure will work best in which circumstances.

Bobbers

Also known as floaters, bobbers are another tackle box essential. These lightweight devices will alert you when a fish is on your line. When the bobber sinks, a fish has bitten. The most common bobber out there is a round red and white plastic floater. However, these limit how deeply you can cast your line, so you may want to have some slip bobbers in your tackle box too.

Sinkers

A sinker will help make sure your hook and worm or lure will sink deep into the water. You’ll find sinkers made of anything from steel, to bismuth, to tungsten, to brass. These are easy to lose, so keep some extra in your tackle box.

Needle-Nose Pliers

This small and versatile tool is extremely useful to have in your tackle box. You can use your pliers to remove hooks from fish or bend wires and remove them from other items.

Extra Line and Spare Hooks

Nobody wants to take their boat out to the lake only to lose their sole fishing line in a tree. Make sure to have some extra fishing line on hand so you can keep fishing even when your line breaks. You should also keep some spare hooks in your tackle box. You’ll want a variety of sizes and styles including J-hooks and French hooks.

We hope these tips help you pack the perfect tackle box! If you have any questions or you want to buy a new fishing boat this spring, call McGovern’s RV & Marine today.
