@Wander.Free.and.Queer

We are Danella and Allie, a queer couple in our mid-thirties who travel full-time in our RV with our two dogs. We are new to the full-time RV lifestyle and are eager to connect with other nomadic people. We love that just by being women on the road we are challenging stereotypes about what women are capable of. We also love that we can quickly create a connection with other women based on our shared experiences. However, facing judgement and criticism from other people is a big challenge we face about being female travelers.

While we were deciding where to travel first in our RV, we listened to the recommendations of seasoned full-time RV couples. As New Englanders who have weathered 30 years of snowy winters, we look forward to traveling to places that will allow us year-round hiking and outdoor activities. We have visited some pretty remarkable locations. Prior to full-time RV living, we spent time in the Grand Tetons National Park, The Olympic Peninsula, and Glacier National Park, all of which were breathtaking.

There are a few items our mobile home is never without. We take our Adventure Edition Road Atlas with us into National Parks because Google Maps does not give driving directions within National Park boundaries. Also, our Kindles make life on the road easier as we had to part with our massive book collection before going full-time.

People often ask us how we earn money from the road, as we are several decades away from retirement age. The answer is that we do a little bit of everything: run a small craft business, Danella works remotely for The University of Southern Maine, and Allie teaches ESL online.

Our friends and family are cautiously excited for us. They are looking forward to the possibilities of visiting us at locations all over the country.

Our dream of RV living started on Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park, where we met another young full-time couple. We were inspired that a young couple like us could live, work, and play all from a motorhome. We each began to quietly wonder if life on the road could be for us. Less than a week later on our cross-country adventure, we began scheming on how to transform this dream into a reality.
